Since April 2016 when the owner of the Henry Jenkins Pub applied for planning permission to demolish the pub and replace it with houses, a local community group has fought to purchase the Pub and convert it to a community owned establishment.
Since that time, six planning applications have been made by the Pub owner to the local Council to develop the Pub . All of these have been rejected.
Two planning appeals for these planning applications have been made by the owner, one dismissed and one approved.
The status of Asset of Community Value has been given and removed a number of times also.
A local Community Benefit Association has been formed and a Community Share Offer has been made and local residents have supported a future purchase of the Pub by the local community.
Numerous offers to purchase the Pub from the owner have been made and all have been rejected.
